Frobisher Crescent, Barbican
Redevelopment & Conversion
Show Project DescriptionHide Project Description
Frobisher Crescent is located in the heart of the Barbican. It is a bold and largely successful experiment in urban design, conceived in the late 1950's and completed in the 1980's with a Grade II listing.
Although Frobisher Crescent was orginally conceived to be a residential building, it was re-designed during the early stages of construction for academic and administrative use. Recently United House won the contract from the City of London to convert the top three floors to accommodate new studio, one, two and three-bed apartments as originally intended.
The new apartments embrace the original design ethos and have developed the contemporary themes that were celebrated in their day as a definitive statement in urban living; compact in size with simple modern fittings and a neutral palette. Our designs subtely redefine and update the apartments to meet todays standards and expectations whilst retaining many of the original features to respect the integrity of the iconic building.
