Riverside Shopping Centre is a retail-led mixed use development which forms an extension and final destination to the Marlow's shopping street.
The site had been derelict and isolated from the existing main shopping street by a bus interchange. In order to create a seamless transition for pedestrians the bus interchanged was moved to another location nearby, which meant the scheme was successfully integrated into the town.
The scheme includes an 86,000 sq ft Debenhams department store, twenty individual retail units, five restaurants, a 110 bed hotel and 350 space carpark. An extension to the Watergardens, originally designed by Geoffrey Jellicoe in the 1960's, forms the centre piece of the scheme with arching footbridges across the river to Debenhams and the relocated bus interchange beyond. Restaurants and cafes on both banks open onto the riverside walks which following the meandering stream.
