Mike Ibbott


Mike has over 28 years' planning experience.  His career has taken him to Manchester, Bromley and Lambeth as Head of Strategic Planning before becoming a Director of tp bennett's town planning team in 2004.

Mike has a successful track-record of leading complex planning projects.  Examples include: leading development plan reviews, giving evidence at public inquiries, and preparing sustainability appraisals; town centre retail development (The Glades); major development in the green belt (Qinetiq and Biggin Hill Airport); estate renewal (Clapham Park); the Waterloo Development Framework; refurbishment of the Royal Festival Hall, tall buildings in Vauxhall and City academies.

Since joining tp bennett Mike has led strategic projects including the London Bridge Station masterplan, major offices for Hanson Building Products and the London Guildhall, major residential schemes across London, new schools (including the award-winning Heartlands High School in Wood Green), Haringey mortuary and pan-London neighbourhood policing centres.  He recently led the EIA process for a major residential-led scheme in Nine Elms and has negotiated planning permission for a new 349-bed hotel and associated residential development close to Heathrow T5 (Hillingdon), a major refurbishment of Sea Containers House, a prominent building on the Thames (Southwark) and complex mixed-use scheme in Stockwell for student accommodation, business use and affordable housing (Lambeth).  He is currently seeking permission for a new hospice in the Southend Green Belt and is acting on a number of free school proposals including a planning application for West London Free School in Hammersmith.

Mike also leads tp bennett’s internal sustainability group.
